I’m no expert, but I do not think Peltier was paroled. According to the link above, the president was "commuting the life sentence imposed on Leonard Peltier so that he serves the remainder of his sentence in home confinement.”
Peltier was in prison for over 50 years.

I wonder why the delay between Biden’s commuting his sentence and his release. I would have thought it would happen in a day or two.
They must have attempted every possible procedural delay to extend the time before his release hoping somehow they wouldn’t have to do it.
He wasn’t really released, rather his sentence was converted from prison to home confinement. Presumably obtaining a house and then arranging it for home confinement takes at least a little time.
