Let me remind you again of my positions: I am a strong supporter of LGBT rights, including trans rights. I’m very tolerant of differences between people - that’s my libertarian streak. Let your freak flag fly - so long as you aren’t coercing others. I believe the right level of taxes is maybe slightly lower than where they are now. Imam okay with a progressive tax code, so ling as the bulk of the nation’s capital stays out of thenhands of government and with the people who earned it. I believe in a social safety net. I do not believe in a permanent unearned income for people who can work. I believe many on the left ignore or downplay incentive effects of welfare policy, but theynare real and damaging. I believe we need a significant number of regulations to maintain a healthy civil society, but that we are currently over-regulated. Business startup should be much easier than it is. I believe in free speech, free association, etc. Bills C-10 and C-36 are immoral, connterproductive, and dangerous. My family complies with mask mandates, and we all have two shots. Because we’re not stupid. These positions would put me to the left of Reagan, and also to the left of 90’s Bill Clinton, who opposed gay marriage. What I am is a defender of Capitalism. That puts me in company with pretty much everyone except the extreme left wing of the Democratic party and the left wing of the Liberals/NDP. My main beefs are with central planning, nationalization/control of industry, speech codes and laws, and an increasingly powerful federal government living WAY beyond its means and seemingly not caring. I am opposed to public unions, which puts me in such extreme right company as Dwight Eisenhower. So if I’m now ‘extreme right’, that suggests to me that it’s the left that has gone way farther to the left in recent years. If anything, I have moved leftwards over the years.
