If my vote decided anything than McAuliffe would be governor. I’m glad that the CRT/bathroom rape movement got blasted out of the water but I’m not happy about a Republican controlling Virginia’s national guard during Trump’s next insurrection and that’s what I voted on. I am able to see why a huge majority of people with school-aged children switched this year, though. ---

I for one am offended and sickened by every politician who has based their campaigns on such a position, and will eagerly vote against everyone who takes that position, even if it means voting for Trump. Pretty close, I guess. I keep imagining it will be more interesting the next time around, and then it’s this instead. What’s it like to be a person who not only keeps track of something like that, but also who thinks admitting out loud that they’re keeping track of something like that makes someone _else_ look bad? ---

The bathroom sexual assault in Loudoun County had nothing to do with trans accessibility for bathrooms (the assaulter was not trans, was not pretending to be trans, and had been in a prior relationship with the victim - this was no random attack but like most sexual violence, committed by someone close to the victim). I’m not sure what can be done about such vile and harmful lies - they work. ---

All the lies add up. It goes back to letting turnp not testify in matters of national security, in either impeachment and maybe now for Jan 6. All R lies now have become “real” in some way that they weren’t before because of this. The only way to counter fascism is to point out lies and refuse to let them sink in as any kind of reality, and to humiliate and shame fascists. This is what the power of subpeona means and it is not being used. How many news stories are about the “mystique” of orangina, bannon, stone, etc etc. all the way down to little shits like Miller. They have not been publicly challenged and it is very bad for the country. To let them spout off on RW siloed outlets with no challenge is inviting fascism into the living room. DT is tied with Biden for 2024. This is after all we have lived through. It means we have lost our way by any former standards. ---

What happened was that the school board panicked and thought that, since some hypothetical person _might_ make this case of a boy in a skirt raping someone in a bathroom into an anti-trans point (imagine such leaps of logic!), they needed to cover up that it had happened. They transferred the student to a different school, impeded the investigation, knowingly lied about whether the crime happened, and accused the girl’s father of being a “terrorist” for trying to speak about it at a school board meeting. He was arrested and prosecuted for “disorderly conduct” by a prosecutor who ran on a “prison abolition” platform in what was clearly, to everyone who doesn’t draw a paycheck from the Democratic National Committee or the New York Times, a politically motivated sham prosecution. **_Parents don’t want their kids raped at school by anyone_ -** whether the “anyone” is or is not trans, is or is not an ex-boyfriend, or is or is not a potential subject of a hypothetical campaign about bathroom access that never actually took place. He sent emails showing he was aware of the specifics of the incident on May 28, then at a school board meeting on June 22 he flatly denied that any rape had ever happened and claimed he had no idea what the questioner was talking about. He did what you and the rest of the Democratic Party’s election-losing, education-hating apparatus has done nonstop for the past year: He lied, in an easily provable way. ---
