Yes, that well-known leftist ideology, fascism.
It’s interesting that throughout the last several years you have continued to claim that the side filled with rampant authoritarianism who have:
- held populist rallies encouraging their followers to hate (and sometimes actually assault) anyone with dissenting views,
- attacked the media as “enemies of the people” and heavily promoted their own openly propagandistic organs including use of foreign agents to spread disinformation,
- undermined - and continue to undermine - democracy at all levels in America and are putting in place mechanisms to allow them to simply declare themselves the winners of elections,
- repeatedly promoted and circulated white nationalist rhetoric,
- been led by politicians right up to the President himself who have encouraged armed groups - including government employees in unmarked uniforms and known violent right-wing vigilante groups - to cause trouble in order to justify crackdowns on the left,
- conducted and continue to conduct a long-running smear campaign - and active pogrom when they have the power to enact it - against an ethnic minority (including depicting them as disease-carrying “vermin” coming over the border to undermine the country)
- tick every single one of Eco’s 14 common features of fascism, and
- produced and encouraged many, many followers who have, on repeated occasion, displayed and promoted Nazi symbolism including marching through the streets with flags with swastikas on them -
…are somehow not fascist.
But the left are “fascist” because they promote equality and democracy, and hold anti-democratic bigots to account for their words and actions. Which is somehow more oppressive than actual fascism.
Mind you, projecting the crimes and sins of the right onto the left was also a key element of fascism.
We get it. You preach the latest right-wing narrative at every opportunity, so naturally you assume that everyone else is just as disingenuous, hypocritical and dogmatic as you, much in the same way that con men think everyone is on the con, liars assume everyone else is lying, and people who complain about “SJWs” and “white knights” assume that other people are also all sociopaths only pretending to have empathy for others for personal gain.
Sure. And while we’re doing that, we can show the Democratic politicians condemning the violence from the left and the Republican politicians encouraging and defending the violence from the right. We can show law enforcement officers sent in by Trump actively attacking not just protesters (many of whom were not a threat at the time) but also targetting journalists and innocent bystanders in order to ramp up protests that had, until that point, been calming down, and we can show the White House spokesperson stating that the worse the unrest got the better it was for them. We can show Republicans lauding Kyle Rittenhouse and inviting the McCloskeys to speak at the RNC (and pardoning them for their crime).
And we can show FoxNews and those other right-wing “news” outlets repeatedly exaggerating the scale of the violence (just as you have done), deliberately conflating protesters, rioters and looters (just as you have done) and deliberately glossing over the right’s culpability in the events of the summer (just as you have done). It’s rather ironic how the same person who keeps accusing us of being a dogmatic hivemind is so dedicated to repeated the Preferred Narrative without question or deviation, even in the face of facts to the contrary.
And even as Republicans continue to defend and excuse a violent insurrection, and as right-wing terrorism continues to be the greatest domestic threat to America (as it has been for decades now), you continue to push the “But, but rioting! Looting! Burning!” narrative to distract from that.
Oh look - a conservative blaming the left for his own actions again.
octopus spends so much time denying responsibility for what he does, I hear Jamie Spears has been asking about him.
