Let’s play Heresy!

I don’t think “Office Space” is particularly funny.

Rick, from The Young Ones: “The only reason you don’t listen to our music is because you don’t like it!”

In truth, I like American milk-chocolate much better than European chocolate. I know, I am an uncultured American. Still the truth is the truth.

Ghirardelli Chocolate is an American milk chocolate company, and all others, European and American, must bow down before it.

Seinfeld would’ve been vastly improved with the removal of Kramer as a character. Vastly.

It would be one thing if people didn’t like it. You can dislike whatever you want. To say that the whole genre is entirely worthless, however, shows ignorance.

Velma was hotter than Daphne.

I’m not looking to get into a “rap sucks” war here with you: if you’ll check back with the OP, you’ll see that the purpose of this thread is a reasonably light-hearted slaughter of sacred cows. I think P. G. Wodehouse was the greatest prose writer of the last century, but this isn’t the place to get into a debate arguing his merits. If you do want to extol the virtues of rap, I’d suggest starting a new thread on it.

Funny, the Beatles Bores aren’t here yet…

We Beatle Bores respect the wishes of the OP.

Oh come on, that’s like saying being stabbed to death with a rusty clockwise corkscrew is worse than being stabbed to death with a rusty counterclockwise corkscrew…

-Joe, also agrees that Tolkien’s writing could bore the paint off a wall

I think “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” is tedious, navel-gazing crap, enjoyed mainly by people who think that ironic, angsty one-liners are what make good screenwriting.

“Dumb and Dumber” was a clever, funny movie, way better than it got credit for.

Tori Amos’s music is shit.

Not anymore.

First six months or so it was actually pretty good. Stuff I wasn’t used to hearing three times a day on other stations. Now, however, it’s no different from any other “classic rock” station out there.

Now I just listen to it out of habit and because every station out there blows even more - not because it’s good.

-Joe

When I hear Led Zeppelin, The Doors, Pink Floyd, The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones, I want to tear my ears off. They have an unpleasant sound.

Seconded: The Matrix was not deep.

Family Guy is kinda predictable.

I don’t particularly care for Star Wars - any of them.

Andrew Lloyd Webber’s work isn’t that bad. I’m not saying it’s the best stuff ever made, but it’s fun, pretty, and even beautiful at times.

Sperm deserves to be swallowed. Furthermore…

(Looks around)

OoooOooh. Let’s Play Heresy. I thought that said… something else.

Howard Stern is not funny. He deserved the fines he recieved simply for being an annoying jackass.

The Johnny Cash cover of Hurt by NIN is garbage, and the only reason that album became so highly rated is because he died.

Kelly Clarkson is more talented than most musicians out there today.

Exorcist II: The Heretic was an intelligent, original, and well-made supernatural thriller. It just wasn’t the horror/gross-out movie the audience wanted.

I’ll second the Floyd portion, anyway.

And you seconded the Matrix as not being deep - I wasn’t aware that opinion was heresy. I thought all people capable of tying their shoes found the Matrix lacking in profundity.

That’s good. I was posting my bit of heresy, which is that people who dismiss the entire genre of rap don’t get it. It was you who went off-topic with your Young Ones quote. If you want to make snarky comments about my bit of heresy, start your own thread, eh?

Reaching way back into the archives of this thread to quote Art Vandelay:

and go one step further. Jefferson Aeroplane, in both incarnations, was drug-adled crap - yes, even “White Rabbit”. They got moderately better with Jefferson Starship, but not good enough. Starship was actually pretty good, and it is the best thing, music-wise, that Grace Slick was ever involved in.

whew, that felt good.
