r\_k sort of hit something I was going to ask.
I have a friend who likes to use the phrase, “right off the back”, as in, “I knew right off the back she was lying.”
It always annoys me because I _think_ the phrase is “off the bat”. Am I right or am I getting annoyed over something that shouldn’t annoy me? Because it is wrong, not because it is silly to be annoyed at it, I mean.

You’re right, and should absolutely be annoyed, whether you are fully clothesed or butt naked.

I hate when people make fun of other people’s errors, especially when the people that mock them aren’t aware that one error doom their position. The reason being is that it’s annoying and undermine their stand.

I feel the same about discreet and discrete.
**discreet** - Marked by, exercising, or showing prudence and wise self-restraint in speech and behavior; circumspect. Free from ostentation or pretension; modest.
**discrete** - Constituting a separate thing; distinct. Consisting of unconnected distinct parts.
Discrete is losing its identity as a word and is known only as a mispelling of discreet.
