Let us praise NCIS

My point if very often they get the call. “gear up we’ve got a dead sailor in Norfolk.” , travel the 190 miles from NCIS HQ in Washington examine the body, go back to DC, go back to Norfolk ,repeat all on the same day. Hollywood geography is fun.

And would not the NCIS people in Nofolk handle the call to begin with?

I’ve always understood Gibbs & team to be the “major case squad” ala Goren & Eames on Law & Order Criminal Intent. They get called out on the big ticket crimes, the NCIS agents stationed at Oceania and Norfolk and so on hand over the murders, kidnappings, serial rapes, etc. to the specialists.

I don’t watch NCIS for the realism.

I like them too - they remind me of old video game music for some reason. The LA theme feels like it should be from Mega Man or something from the original Nintendo :).

Someone else has already pointed out that Gibbs’ team is the major case squad; they’ve been explicitly called that, in fact.

As for the same day thing, you’ve not been paying attention, I fear. They generally make it clear that more than one day is passing; look at wardrobe changes and so forth. There have been a few episodes when that didn’t happen, but that was when the point of the episode was that they were racing the clock.

NCIS has realism? :confused::cool:

I have watched NCIS since the pilot aired – Mark Harmon and Michael Weatherly were the draws, I’ll admit – and I no longer try to kid myself that I don’t love this show. Though I’ve been loving it a lot more since they shortened the original, redundant name. :slight_smile:

But I hate Abby. More with every passing season. The “I sleep in a coffin but aren’t bunnies just soooo cuuuute” schtick got old years ago. As did the childlike wonder at the world, and the daughter-like relationship with Gibbs. When she got all up in Holly Snow’s face about being a prostitute I really just wanted to slap her. Self-righteous, naive little girl.

She’s the only one I don’t like, though. Ziva’s mangled idioms are annoying, but on the whole I like her. And I like Vance a lot more than I liked Jenny. I love everyone else!

I tried to watch NCIS: LA – Chris O’Donnell being the draw this time (yes, I sometimes watch shows just for the cute boys :smiley: ) – but I couldn’t get into it.
