I canā€™t imagine this being done well. And even done well, I canā€™t imagine it adding anything new to the movie, unless they do something unusual like have an all black cast. Actually, an all Latino cast, sung en EspaƱol would be something Iā€™d definitely watch. To be good at all itā€™d have to be at least as subversive as the original if not more. Maybe an outfit like Troma or John Waters, done for the IFC channel could do something interesting. But MTV? Seems bound to be watered down and pop-starified. I saw the stage show too and loved it, but I donā€™t think a live stage adaption is a good analogy for a television remake. Assuming they could sing, Johnny Depp could do FNF, heā€™s good at unusual roles and has done decent drag before. Jack Black at least physically could approximate Meatloaf. For Brad and Janet maybe Shia and ā€¦I donā€™t know but not Megan Fox again lol I donā€™t think a straight up remake would work well, but maybe some sort of adaption. RHPS in high school. RHPS in space. Steampunk RHPS. etc lol. Diversifying the cast could be interesting too. Although Iā€™m having more fun at the pretend casting going on here than my actual interest would be in attending the movie. I guess Iā€™m a minority in that - 1. I like the movie, and have had much enjoyment going to it 2. I think the movie itself really sucks balls. It just isnā€™t a good movie at all Similar to what Czarcasm said; if it had big name actors in it the first time, it would be considered a huge failure, and would have never become a cult success.
