Since I’ve joined anyway - so, I could be a part of the problem. As you can see I’ve only been around for two years, and I really like the Dope. It is a haven for free thought in my opinion. IRL you will never get such candid views from so many intelligent people. It seems that lately, however, everyone is clutching their precious little pearls about every stupid little thing, every vague injustice, every minor or subtly offensive thing to every little group. **For the love of god, please just get over it - (or at least some of it!!!)** ---

As a matter of fact, the board has been going precipitously downhill ever since I joined 15 years (and about every six months someone bemoans that fact). You can only imagine what an Elysian place this was back then. (Actually, try “search threads from the beginning, ascending” to show that the board was a morass back then too.;)) ---

Meh, I forgot my password so the old account ‘Occam’ was deleted. I’ve been coming here since the late 90’s. The SDMB’s level of discourse comes and goes. Fresh dedicated minds rise to the challenge when aggressive ignorance displays itself, so you need both for interesting debates. Otherwise we all agree, or we don’t care enough to bother.
