For those of you who don’t live with your parents - how far away did you move from them? If your parents are still alive, how far away from them are you? I thought it’d be fun to try to find the Doper who’s moved the farthest away from his/her parents. Edit: Sorry about the typo in the thread title. ---

Probably when I lived in Germany and they were in Alaska, about 4700 miles as the crow flies. ---

My peak was 10,114 miles between Sacramento and a small town in South Africa, and I spent a few years between 6,000 and 8,000 away. Now I’m a measly 2,380 miles away…practically next door. ---

According to a distance calculator it is currently 18807 km (11686 miles), from New Zealand to France. ---

Google maps says it is 1,224 miles from Benton city Washington to Albuquerque New Mexico, where I currently live. ---

Can’t compete with others in the thread, but I have moved 2250 km from where I was born & raised. My parents have divorced and moved from there, too, so if you average their distances from me, it’s 2940 km; treble that would be about right. My poor husband (whose family is a great deal saner) is 7435 km from where he grew up. ---

I haven’t left South Florida, but my parents moved to San Francisco, which is about 2500 miles away. They’ve since moved back, and are now about a 10 minute drive away. ---
