As a Giants fan, who lived through 2002 WS Game 6, I feel your pain, Astros fans. I would blame it on Fox. They brought out their film clips of the '62 Colt .45s, and the pending demolition of Busch Stadium…and you know you were doomed. ---

I don’t know the Houston park very well (I live in an AL town). On the reply, it looked like Pujols’s homer went off glass at the top of the wall. Is that the case? If so, does that mean if that glass weren’t there, that the ball was basically hit out of the park? Hell of a game, though. 🙂 ---

As our local sportscaster here likes to say, **BOOM-SHOCK-A-LOCKA!!!** That was one massive monster of a homer, bouncing around like a Pachinko ball off the rafters in left field. I realize it’s a short left field but _damn_, that thing looked like it could have gone 500+ feet! And, by the way, I hate the Cardinals. Go Cubs, er, I mean, Go Sox! ---

Just giving my impression. 🙂 Granted that I wouldn’t have done so if I had any real emotional stake in the game. I do think 'Stros-Sox would have the potential to be a great World Series. ---

The Astros are the oldest team NEVER to make the series. The WSox are the team with the longest streak of not winning the series. ---

Well I’ll be. How about that? I must say that even though the outcome was the same as wished for two nights ago, this celebration is, and for good reason, much more reserved, maybe even contemplative tonite. I think the Cards fans know, and certainly their players do, the level of regard we have for them. It’s just a supurb organization and when healthy I still think the best team in baseball today. Class act, that. Although I’d not change a thing if given the chance, it still is hard not to wish we had Carlos Beltran with us going into this World Series. Of couse he’s not, having listened to an agent that increased his own take and lessened Carlos’ when he counseled him to go with a team that had a chance of making this year’s Series. What a World Series this should be. I’m happy for Bags, Bigs, Berkie and every single Astro, for all the fans and, rightfully, for everyone that enjoys good baseball. Hello, White Sox. Pleased to meet you. ---

Nitpick #1: The Astros are the oldest _NL_ team. The oldest team who has not yet played in the World Series is the AL Rangers, who began life one season earlier than the Astros. Nitpick #2: The WSox are the _AL_ team with the longest streak of not winning the World Series. The team with the longest streak of not winning the Series is the NL Cubs, who last won in 1908. So maybe next year, it’ll be Rangers vs. Cubs. Just a thought. 🙂 ---
