The extremists or fringe people on both sides are always going to see the world in black & white. It’s a cop-out to actually having to think or analyze or compromise. In other words… they’re lazy. Anybody who dares to analyze a topic by looking at both sides to find the middle ground is labeled as ‘wishy-washy’ or ‘flip-flopper’ or ‘fence-sitter’. And don’t you ever god forbid change your view or opinion on a topic. It’s ashame that the minority of the population who are on these fringes happen to be the loudest and garner the most attention. ---

Luckily, no puppy has ever died on me. They all happily retired to that farm upstate my mom told me about. ---

I have been thinking about this recently. Sometimes it’s laziness, but sometimes a person doesn’t seem to be able to do the thinking necessary to figure out the nuances. In that case they seem to choose another to tell them what to believe, and then they stick to it. In the case of religious fanatics, I think they are afraid to be wrong, so they stick to the strictest of interpretations. ---
