I’ll be honest, the singing is kind of rough, and the beats are basic - but the lyrics are great and the flow of the song is too. It reminded me really strongly of some other song I’ve heard before, but can’t remember who did it - Beck maybe? The bell sound after you said “tower” was a really nice touch, too.
Oh yeah, I just remembered what song it reminded me of. Oslo In The Summertime by Of Montreal. Weird.
I wish I could participate in this thread. I’ve spent four and a half hours putting drums on a track, but I got the blue screen of death twice, and lost it all. Maybe next time, after a new OS and $400 for Audition.
This was fun little song, but I agree that the singing was a bit rough. However if you ran more of it through that processing effect it would remind me of an android singing to itself, or perhaps an AI program writing music. Unusual and entertaining though.
Hmmm… see “deep in the woods” or maybe " Jennifer’s veil" But really it’s the dissonant odd notes that remind me more of the rather emotive performances off of the “live seeds” album.
Just wanted to jump in and say thanks for all the kind words. I quit smoking 2+ years ago so I can only attribute that smoky quality to single malt scotch
We’re quite a musically diverse group, aren’t we (I mean we Dopers)?
Our latest CD is out on CD Baby so you can go there and listen. We removed our first CD from CD baby because that was our previous piano player.
The really cool thing is that we just shot a video and I should have a 45 minute concert video next week after we get through with the editing.
Okay, here’s the band I’m involved with. Sorry, I’m not a musian, I’m an actress. I portray a number of characters, wrangle the snake, do propsmistress duties etc. It’s an Alice Cooper tribute.
Yeah, the guitar tone kinda sucks but right now I have a little Fender thing that is hard to get good dirty tone out of. It puts out amazing clean tones (which is the reason I bought it in the first place) but the gain channel leaves a lot to be desired. I am going to get a new amp here shortly, probably a B-52, but I am not positive about that. The leads are doubled for the most part. That piece is going to be rerecorded once I get my new amp.
Dagny’s Song was named after my cat Dagny, whose name came from Dagny Taggart. I just dig the name Dagny. I wrote that piece pretty quickly, just sorta popped out. I had never heard of Drake until this thread. I am going to have to check out some of his stuff.
