I agree with the sentiment that the ads should be beneath the “reply now” button. That would also put them beneath the page count button, which means I can then navigate through multi-page threads without having to dodge the ads just to do so. ---

I have to upgrade Firefox before I download adblock, and I’m too damned tired to mess with that tonight. Why can’t they put the ads at the top of the page, under the logo, like EVERY OTHER SITE does? ---

Yeah, Something Awful, which probably gets about ten times the number of traffic we do, is a lot more graphic and content heavy, is about ten dollars for LIFETIME membership. ---

The only placement that could be worse is right in the middle of the thread. I did NOT pay for this sort of shit. There are plenty of places I can go for free with absolutely no ads. It fucking sucks. ---

I didn’t mind the ads so much as the content. Every fucking single ad I saw was a con-man come-on. Ads put out by criminals, for criminal wanna-bes. I.e., selling mailing lists and phone lists. What honest person responds to these things? What honest person would put this shit out? I really wouldn’t mind if they had been for, say, the latest sale at Sears, or Best Buy, or whatever. But what I saw disgusted me. So I’ve ad-blocked’em. I gave 'em a fair shake, they didn’t live up, and now I don’t see’em any more. ---

I was just going to mention that. \And I have adblock, right clickend and did the iframe thing, and went into adblock options and blocked the URL I was told to…and the goddamn, motherfuck, cunt-sucking, whore of an ad is still there! Add my vote to the “DESTROY THE FUCKING GODDAMN ADS” VOTE, i paid my dues partially for the reason that we would _NOT_ be subjected to this SHIT, i can understand guests getting the ads, but \*paid members (charter or otherwise) should _NOT_ be subjected to frelling adverts, i don’t care how “unobtrusive” they are, they _ARE NOT_ welcome Thank Og for Firefox and Adblock, take that, you fucking stupid google ads if the ads continue, i will have to consider wheter i want to renew my membership when it’s time to renew, as our membership dues are clearly not worth anything… CRUSH, KILL, DESTROY THE GOOGLE ADS, NUKE THE FUCKERS FROM ORBIT, ONLY WAY TO BE SURE! ---

Nevermind. Apparantly, Adblock, after being installed, doesn’t automatically turn on. Another question, though: does Adblock stop those UBER fucking intrusive flash-ads that I have no other way around, other than to disable flash, which I don’t want to do? ---

I’m also curious as to what the administration’s policy towards AdBlocker and the like will be. My WAG is that the resentment is simmering, tempered with impotence to do anything about it except making another rule forbidding any mention of adblockers (that-of-which-we-dare-not-speak). Ad me to the list of people who think it’s fucking ridiculous to charge for membership, and include ads on the board. Absolutely not. I’m not having it. It might be early in the year to start with the “I’m not renewing” stuff, but I’ll kick it off: There is no way I’m paying money to be on a message board with ads. Not a chance. ---

I no more read the ads than I read the honking trademark crap at the bottom of each page. No prob…it just filters out.
