Over here we call them chips, though in US fast food joints they’re called “fries”. ---

The reason that Great Britain is called that is to distinguish it from Brittany in France, which is little Britain. So there’s your answer. Believe me however pissed off with THe USA the French are you’ll never get close to what they think of us. Britain Minor. ---
