Can I make the important point that George W. Bush is an import? He was born in New Haven, Connecticut. Now, Ann Richards, Lyndon Johnson, and Barbara Jordan - they’re all native Texans. …and so is Tom Delay and Ross Perot. We’ve produced a few tools, as well. ---

Well, we can easily start pit threads about mega churches. But, what if the mega church has an all gay congregation and they’re sometimes too liberal? Only in Texas. ---

It’s not Oklahoma. Bill Hicks Black Joe Lewis and the Honeybears The food, not just the regional stuff (which can be great). Only 2 hours, 45 minutes from OKC to Dallas. It’s going to be a good weekend after all. Austin City Limits. The big honkin’ rockets on the front lawn at NASA. The state economy is as sound as it gets nowadays. Texans are fun to be around, like the US version of Australians. As I said in a Texas thread a while back: “Texas is that friend of yours who comes from humble, rough, maybe even questionable beginings; but who has worked hard, used his natural talents, had more than a little good luck and now he’s living the good life. His idea of the good life is probably not much like yours (it involves more country music, red meat , and nasty domestic beer, for instance) but he seems to enjoy it. He’s loud, arrogant, and completely over the top in every respect, but you can’t help admiring his gumption and he throws killer barbecues.” ---
