# Let's Use Numerology!

With the closing of [this thread](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=728313), I feel we have lost a good opportunity to explore the full depths of inconsistent numerical interpretation to prove the existence of God or the destiny of the Republican Party or the chances of the New York Mets or indeed any subject deemed sufficiently weighty.

Do you realize that the alphabet proves that aliens exist?

[li]There are 26 letters[/li][li]2 x 6 = 12[/li][li]12 is the number of eggs in a common dozen[/li][li]eggs are symbols used at Easter[/li][li]if you add up the numerical equivalents of the letters in Easter you get 5 + 1 + 19 + 20 + 5 + 18 = 68[/li][li]68 is the ASCII code for “D”[/li][li]D is the first letter in Dyson[/li][li]Dyson Spheres are round (_just like eggs!_) and used by aliens![/li][/ul]  
Also, if “zounds!” is evolved from “God’s wounds!”, could “God’s math” be similarly altered? Will engineers in the future who discover arithmetic errors feel compelled to shout “Zeth!” ?

They need the special sauce of insanity to work, like in that thread. As Sam Clemens is said to have told his wife when she tried swearing like him, “You know the words, but not the music.” Or something like that. This is MPSIMS so I don’t need a valid cite.
