Hey, cool! American’s my alma mater (c/o 95). It always was a bastion of liberalness – Clinton spoke at our centennial celebration in '93; it was his first major foreign policy address and happened to be the day the World Trade Centers were bombed.
Anyway, I’m as liberal as they get, and then some. I always seemed to know the three conservatives on campus, since they lived in my dorm with me and we would argue the night away.
Glad to see that Heston was protested, in any case.
I have always had the impression that Hillsdale in southern Michigan was rather conservative. ]] Tom
I’d say that’s a fair description – I think George Mason is fairly conservative, too.
Oh, and ruadh, yes, Bob Jones U. is still in business and still prohibiting interracial dating.
I visited a friend at BYU a few years back and MAN are they conservative. I was a senior in high school at the time, and considered going there (it’s beautiful, and everyone is superfriendly), but decided not to apply basically because of the right-wing tilt (and the fact that everyone’s Mormon, and I think that would make me feel uncomfortable).
I go to what’s probably one of the most liberal schools in the country, UC Santa Cruz, but even here we have some conservatives. I think. Well, I’ve heard rumors. One person in my freshman dorm voted for Bob Dole in '96, and that was pretty surprising. FTR, I’ve only met about four Republicans in my entire life.
