First answer, best answer. And **Hari Seldon** pointed out how: answer some other question instead.

Not if he ever wanted to see her naked again.

Best response.

It would be a terrible betrayal to sabotage his wife’s campaign by pandering to a muck-raker, or even to divulge such a painful secret to anyone.

Duh.

> Less than a week before the election, Barry is accosted by a reporter for a major newspaper in the state. The reporter says he’s heard a rumor that Iris was cheated on Barry decades ago, while they were in college, got pregnant, and had an abortion. Can Barry confirm or deny that?

He should have stopped the entire conversation with _“I can deny it. Good day.”_

As it is, he should say, _“I have provided a denial of the rumor you asked me about. This conversation is at an end. Good day.”_

I don’t think that cleaning the reporter’s clock would get his guy a better shot at winning. I think it would give her a 10-point lead, minimum.

I wouldn’t even say that much. I’d say “No,” and end it at that. Saying anything more, even “I’m not saying that,” would encourage the reporter to keep digging.
