You should try not to think in binary. Libertarian, formerly known as Liberal, ideas were what the US was founded upon, and obviously still hold huge sway.

You sure about that? Seems to me that the folks who wanted as little government as possible, the Anti-Federalists, got the short end of the stick in 1787.

BJMoose… they are probably using definitions of the political spectrum that were applicable in the 18th century. That seems to be the source of much of the thinking.
