# "Liberty Movement" (Ron Paul followers) asserts that it's in the conservative driver's seat

Cite? Entitlement programs are among the lowest priorities to cut (despite forming a [significant portion of the budget](http://www.gallup.com/poll/145790/americans-oppose-cuts-education-social-security-defense.aspx)), among both Democrats and Republicans. I did find this one cite which showed that 24% of Americans supported a Social Security cut in the early 80s and that number declined each year afterwards (also, that people consistently would approve of cutting military expenditure above cutting social expenditures).
