Librarian claims there's no good children's books about Trump, but there are?

I feel like it would be easier to write a good children’s book about Mitt Romney or Jill Biden than about Donald Trump.

I usually won’t buy a book without a good review. Also, we’re looking at a story that comes under “current events” and hasn’t been written yet. Still, there’s something to be said for having a complete set of president biographies. I’d take that over a hagiography.

Yep. I’m in an academic library, so a bit different, but what we buy has to be available though our vendor. This doesn’t happen same day the book is released on Amazon and some books are never in there.

While we can occasionally order from other sources it is a Process because not only are the payments more difficult, but they don’t come in shelf ready - and we don’t have people doing that work on a regular basis anymore.

Yeah part of the point is that those complaining don’t want “good” books about Trump, they want favorable books about Trump. Not even neutral or good-parts-only, they want to give tge children propaganda. They want books directly inculcating that he was The Best.

And yes, it would not surprise me if among books portraying Trump positively, a large proportion were distributed through outright partisan channels that are not the ones public libraries use for their supply. So technically the library could in fact have no “good children’s books about Trump” available from their approved suppliers’ list. Which the librarian does not control.

I’m willing to bet that many of the Trump supporters who were angered by this situation were just told that there weren’t any Trump-positive books, and didn’t bother to check before they started making threats.

If they’re having difficulty finding the children’s books that paint Donald Trump in a favorable light, they may want to look in the fiction section.

Count me in as out of touch, I didn’t even know there were children’s books about presidents. I know I wouldn’t have read them as a child. I think everything I read as a child about presidents, true of false, was in history books.

I’m surprised that there isn’t some decent publisher with an updated-as-needed series about all the Presidents. Sort of a Mini Page-level overview.

In fact, I’m a bit surprised that the Mini Page doesn’t themselves have such a series.

There are some of those, and they include Trump. Absent a review of the specific volume on Trump I’d purchase one based on the series as a whole. None of them would be likely to please a Trump supporter, though.

This thread reminds me of the strip Mallard Fillmore. Notoriously unfunny but carried by some papers to “balance” things out.

I’ve seen a lot of stuff over the years that ponders Fillmore and why conservatives all too often just can’t do funny.

Sliding over to children’s books: many are funny, or heart warming, etc. Sort of in the same ballpark. And I don’t think there’s many conservatives who can do that sort of thing in general. And even harder to do when comes to Trump.

What’s going to be the topic? The time Donny slept with the porn stars? Said a bunch of racist stuff? Etc.

You definitely could do a PG version of his life. Rich dad, real estate development, Casinos, reality TV, White House. Children’s cooks aren’t super in depth.

It’s hard to laugh when your ass is clenched.
