# Lieberman or Lamont?

Oh yeah, JL is in no way a “liberal Democrat”. That’s absurd. He’s fairly mainstream, but not “liberal”. Except, of course, for his support of the war which is no small thing-- esp. in this election.

It would be a wonderful surprise if Lamont should win. But it would be one hell of a surprise at this point.

Here’s my scorecard on Lieberman for this Congress:

_Good stuff:_  
Has voted for increasing the minimum wage, and voted to protect it from assorted GOP strings attached.  
Voted against bankruptcy ‘reform’ (S. 256).

_Bad stuff:_  
Voted for the Military Commissions Act (S. 3930).  
Supported the Bush Administration every which way on Iraq and GWoT.  
Voted for cloture on Alito.  
Gang of 14.  
Voted for Class Action Deform (S.5).  
Last Senate Dem to commit to opposing Bush’s Social Security Deform.  
Voted for Cheney’s Energy Bill (H.R. 6).

That’s why I favor Lamont.

[Here](http://www.salon.com/opinion/feature/2006/10/23/alan_schlesinger/)’s an interesting article about Schlesinger, resentful that the GOP has abandoned him for Lieberman and what he’s doing to fight back.
