Ha! Yes, I had this same reaction. I used to refer to myself as a lopsided cyclops.
Mine went away eventually, although it was interesting at work to check the lefty to make sure she was settled before going in to talk to my boss. She was raring to go a lot of the time while Ms. Right Side was perpetually taking a nap.
What kind of bra for post-surgery? I’m assuming a non-underwire for a few months, but right after surgery is a compression type bra recommended? Also, did you have anti-coagulants before surgery? PS mentioned Lovenox the day before.
I had to wear the surgical bra (with a big pad of gauze under it) for a week. After that, I went with these. They are super comfy, and firm enough to hold everything in place without squishing it around. They have to be put on over your head, but I managed the first few days with some help. They are very comfy to sleep in, as well.
I was given a light sedative, antibiotics, and that stuff that dries your mouth completely out before surgery, but no anti-coagulants, to my knowledge.
Surgery scheduled for 7:30 am on October 28th (the first date my sister the caretaker and I could synch schedules). I have to be at the hospital at 5:30 IN THE AM!!!
Congratulations! And yeah, I had to be there at about 5:45. On the plus side, that was too early for me to be grumpy about not getting to eat breakfast.
I am honestly excited for you, and feeling very humbled that my little post may have had a part in encouraging you to check about having the procedure done.
FB, the asymmetry has bothered me for about a year, but I never pursued it because I didn’t think it was covered by insurance. Your post inspired me to dig around and I found that since I had a partial mastectomy, insurance has to cover it. So thank you! Now I’m getting nervous and thinking “do I deserve this?” The real answer is of course!
When I went in the second time, my surgery was delayed for a few hours. So, I was starving by the time things got underway. As my surgeon was marking me we were talking about how to make the best turkey sandwich.
When I came to in recovery, the nurse said that while I was still partially out I was talking about turkey sandwiches…
:o
I hope that’s all I was talking about. I thought my surgeon was totally cute. Good God, I hope I wasn’t talking about him in my semi-conscious state…
“Man, you so fine. I’d loooooove to have summa’ THAT sanwich!”
