Oh, I hope Father Ted got everyone over the blasphemy thing and we get it in Irish cinemas too! That film has pleasantly “ruined” every other Christ flick ever since. I was watching this highly serious one (can’t remember the name of it) on the telly the other day and at the hight of the drama someone in the crowd asked “are you the messiah?” and of course my mind immediately jumped to the only possible comeback to that one… 😃 Also one of my favourite but more minor incidents is all the other droning prophets that are around when Brian is running away from the Romans. “And there will be a great amount of confusion as to were things really are.” ---

I was sooooooo tempted to shout “Release Bwian” during the viewing of The Pasison that I saw but I feared that all the praying god botherers around me would crucify **me**. **PookahMacPhellimey** it will be in the Irish cinema if they bring it over here as the ban was lifted a good few years ago and The Screen in Dublin showed it straight after it was lifted for a few weeks. Can’t wait to see it on the big screen. ---

Now this IS news. I have never seen a Monty Python film on the big screen. Now it looks like I will have to make sure that I get a fake beard for the wife so we can go together. Wouldn’t want her to miss the stoning. 😉 ---

“Blessed are the Greeks?” Watching _Life of Brian_ permanently warped me. My freshman year of college, I had sat through two Monty Python movies (_Holy Grail_ and _Meaning of Life_) without cracking a chuckle. Ditto through the Flying Circus marathon. It just wasn’t funny. I only went at all because I enjoyed spending time with my friends no matter what we might be doing (well, there are a few exceptions, come to think of it). One evening we sat down to watch _Life of Brian_. I kind of chuckled through the first half hour or so. But once they got to the graffiti scene I started losing it. Because I had just finished my first semester of Latin. I howled laughing throughout the rest of the movie. Suddenly Monty Python was _hysterically funny_. I sat through _Holy Grail_ again and laughed until my sides hurt. I really can’t explain it. ---

The late George Harrison (of the Beatles) appears briefly. As Bwian is being led through a crowded room full of people looking to be healed and such, one of the PFJ’s introduces a bearded man of importance (GH) and telling Bwian that this man had arranged for them to have the “mount” (presumably for a sermon later on). Intentionally ironic I suppose, as GH helped finance LoB after it’s initial investors pulled out, fearful of the seeming taboo nature of the subject matter. Interesting how the rock n rollers loved Python and backed them with their wallets. Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, and Genesis put up much of the money for Holy Grail, course they ended up making bucket fulls off of it.
