I can’t confess to be very knowledgable formal logic, but since when do you have to logically justify an a priori statement? Isn’t it the point of an a priori statement that you take it on faith, as it were, and proceed from there?

Actually, biologically speaking, a gene is concerned with the survival of its own carrier to the extent that the carrier must live long enough and be in sufficient health to propagate said gene.
