Either cheap, or inappropriate for the intended purpose. Are hard-wired LED manufacturers assuming that customers are going to leave the fixtures on most of the time? My company deals in electrolytic capacitors for a different application, but there is a lengthy history of what would be considered to be premature failures, and even with proper power-up cycles (meant to reform/recondition the capacitor) they have a rather short life.
Well, it’s headed for the landfill at this point. The new fixture arrived today. It takes regular lamps and will last as long as I do.
