Limbaugh not racist at all, no sirree bob.

Cuahtemoc:

If the quote doesn’t justify an accusation of racism by your own reckoning, than by definition your accusation is a knowingly false one.

Not to get all moralistic, but false accusation aren’t very nice. They tend to make the person making them the bad guy.

Whatever you personally think or feel about somebody, no matter how bad you think they are, that doesn’t justify a false accusation.

Now say you’re sorry or no cartoons for you for the rest of the week.

The comment doesn’t make him a racist. He was already a racist. And if I thought he was a racist before this, it’s not really a stretch for me to attribute the comment to said pre-existing racism, is it?

Since you’ve only this comment as justification for your charge of racism, and you agree that it doesn’t meet the criteria, you therefore must have some other compelling reason to suggest he’s a racist.

Could you share it?:

Where does Richard Roeper of the Chicago Sun-Times reference “those particular quotes”? I sure don’t see them anywhere in that article.

Do you mind if I take it up with you, rather than passing the buck to the esteemed Mr. Roeper, if you are indeed the liar that you appear to be?

This took me less than one minute to find.

From the linked article:

(emphasis added).
One question: Does it hurt?

Dipshit. I can’t read the article for you. Try again.

Funny, I searched through the article the first time (keywords: “bone”, “hell”) and didn’t see those quotes.

All the same, I’ve listened to Rush off and on for several years and do not believe he would ever speak to a caller that way. You might as well make some slur against the Jews and then say to take it up with the Jack Chick tract you got it from.

Horseshit.

They are quotes attributed to Rush Limbaugh. Deal with it, Dittohead.

You’re right- I shouldn’t have said “defense doesn’t affect passing yards”. Defense affects time of possession, which in turn will affect how much the offense/QB has the ball. But 3,000 yards is a decent season, especially when you add his rushing yards. Not to get into a Collins/McNabb debate, but although Collins did have 4K+ yards he also threw almost as many INTs as TDs.

But all these stats are fairly meaningless to the debate at hand. Look at Tony Banks- he’s currently got a 104+ QB rating and a Super Bowl ring and is on a .500 team but no one would argue that he’s a great QB. Why do Farvre and McNabb get lots of positive press while Kerry Collins doesn’t? Because they’re a heck of a lot more exciting than Collins is. You can make an argument that McNabb is overrated (I disagree), but to claim that he gets positive press because he’s black and not because he’s an exciting player just shows that Limbaugh knows as much about football as he does about any of the other topics he spouts off on.

Cuatemhoc:

FAIR is simply not credible. Many who despise Rush will concede that FAIR is nothing more than a witchhunt.

The “12%, who cares” and “bone in your nose” quotes can be accurately attributed to our friend Michael Savage, not Limbaugh.

Apropos of nothing in particular, Matt Drudge is reporting that Limbaugh is set to be exposed as a pill-popping junkie. Painkillers.

Retraction: Further research sees those quotes attributed to both Limbaugh and Savage. One of them said it.

shrug Those crazy conservatives. I am looking forward to the drug allegations tomorrow.

They were 7-3 when he got hurt. It’s not like he only played three games, he only missed three.

Barry Sanders got no such love? Maybe not in Green Bay or something, but from where I was sitting, he got exactly that respect. By the way, who’s more exciting than Vick?

First of all, McNabb’s last three seasons he has averaged 211 yards a game, not the 187.5 number that you got from the 3000 estimate. Second, when you factor in the 500 or 600 rushing yards McNabb is good for, and the 2-to-1 TD-to-Int ratio, you’re damn right he’s a Pro Bowler. Incidentally, the only year your boy Kerry Collins made the Pro Bowl, he passed for 189 yards a game. So what you obviously meant to say was that if only McNabb couldn’t run whatsoever, and threw as many interceptions as he did touchdowns, he’d be like, hmmm, Kerry Collins?

I’m not attacking you, but since I’ll never get to explain to Rush why McNabb isn’t overrated, I figured where better than here? McNabb isn’t Joe Montana, he’s not Elway, and he’s not Steve Young, and I’m not trying to pretend he is. But it’s really infuriating to hear that fat blowhard use my beloved, struggling Eagles to whip up another batch of national trollery, right on top of an 0-2 start, calling McNabb, essentially, a token black man being propped up by the bleeding hearts.

I’m not seeing that as a particularly compelling standard of evidence from which to charge racism.

And I’m not sure what you mean by that, except to imply that I am saying that Limbaugh is a racist, which I have not said. I do know that if I told some black guy to take the bone out of his nose I would be called a racist in a Jimmy the Greek minute.

Personally, I think his remark says way more about his agenda to discredit the media as being “liberal” than what he may or may not think about black people.

But who cares. Have you heard that Limbaugh’s a druggie?

**

My apologies. I didn’t mean to imply that. Cuatemnhoc is using this as proof that Limbaugh’s a racist. Since we don’t actually know who supposedly said it, it’s not very compelling.

Yup. I agree.

Just in this thread so far. I wonder if it’s true.

Franken’s book should have been titled “Rush Limbaugh is a Big Fat Racist Idiot”

I admit that I haven’t read all of the posts in this thread but I am from Philly and I’m a big Eagles fan. I can’t wait to see the reception Rush gets in Philly on Thursday. Don’t let me down Philly! Rush is a dink.
