9/11.
In the world according to Rush Limpballs everything is Obama’s fault.
If it rains tommorow it’s Obama’s fault.
Rantings of a loon.
i can completely explain it.
Rush is an idiot.
What got established early in this thread? That Rush Limbaugh doesn’t really know jack about football. Generally someone who wants (and has the money) to own a professional team YOU’D THINK would be enough of a fanatic of the sport to know everything about it. So what’s up with Rush?
Consider this:
Rush Limbaugh is a radio performer. Several times a year he’ll do something or say something to get buzz. It’ll make national news and maybe get covered by CNN and MSNBC. Maybe it’ll even show up debated on message boards.
Creating buzz is his job. He draws attention to himself. People might tune in to hear him crow or complain about watever trash he created. He has something to talk about for several weeks.
I wonder if he was really serious about owning a piece of a football team.
It’s the exact same crap he was spewing about how, in Obama’s America, white kids get beat up with black kids cheering. It’s part and parcel to the new victimization of whites (and conservatives) that they’re plying to those who are not so intelligent in their audience. In Obama’s America, Rush won’t be allowed to own a team because he’s a white conservative.
Not hard to imagine.
Sharpton and Jackson support/ed Obama.
Sharpton and Jackson attacked Rush and stopped him.
Therefore Obama is responsible.
It does not matter if it is shitty logic. It is still logic to to guys like Rush.
What that Oxycontin impaired brain still takes into account is that the NFL is still a private enterprise, so instead of blaming the ass-holism of the owners it is better to blame Obama and the unions.
I think so. He approached ESPN about appearing on Sunday NFL Countdown, not the other way around- and knowing nothing about football has never been a bar to NFL ownership. Just ask Jerry Jones.
This is the end of the left.
This shit is getting really obvious.
Thanks for your enlightening contribution, Scylla.
This I don’t agree with. As I said, most football players are Republicans (although largely in name only, as they typically aren’t that politically inclined, but like the idea of tax cuts). More importantly, though, making an NFL roster is hard work, hardly guaranteed, and a lifelong dream. I doubt the team would not be able to sign Black players (although I will concede that a big name player could manage to make a fuss).
Rush, IMO, is not a racist, per se. But race baiter is quite apt. He talks about race a lot, because a lot of his audience is racist. He’s good at getting them riled up. And that, for him, encourages a loyal following.
That’s not true. NFL teams and their employees donate vastly more money to Republicans than Democrats (although interestingly, the NFL itself donates more to Democrats) but most NFL players are black, and most black people are Democratic voters.
It’s not clear exactly what the split is, but I still have yet to hear of an active black player (other than Culpepper) shilling for Republicans, while I’ve heard of dozens of active players endorsing or campaigning for Democrats.
There is no need to parse. I can tell you the entire first part (before Kanye West) is Rush being a smart ass. He is obviously referencing a Newsweek cover and the idea of a post-racial America under Obama. He uses quite a bit of humor in his show and, unless you can hear it, it can be made to look as though he is being serious.
Nonetheless, if Rush were racist I doubt he would have Armstrong Williams or Dr. Walter Williams guest host for him. Not to mention, I doubt these guys would be willing to host for a racist.
Of course I do. I halfway defined it in my response. You assume something you are attempting to prove.
And if a black person had made that statement? Would it then be racist? Hows about if a black liberal (Juan Williams) defended Rush and claims this is a witch-hunt?
Actually, I’ve read pretty much every post in this thread. Sorry if I happen to find the arguments of, say Marley23 and Whack-a-Mole more convincing than yours. Perhaps if you keep going, maybe I’ll find something you’ve said that I agree with. Maybe not.
Meanwhile, regarding the main subject of this teapot tempest, if Mr. Limbaugh wishes to blow a few of his millions on part-ownership of an NFL team, then he is welcome to do so. I wouldn’t even necessarily root against St. Louis on that basis. On the other hand, since I happen to think that Mr. Limbaugh is a raging asshole and a cancer upon our fair nation, I find I’m not all busted up that his partners-to-be decided to uninvite him to the party.
There, I’m pretty sure that at least part of the foregoing agrees with yorick’s sentiments.
Ex NBA player Charles Barkley (a black as you probably know) once famously said that he voted Republican because he “had more scratch than most of the brothers.”
Limbaugh really is in a win/win situation here. Either he gets a piece of the team (which didn’t happen) or he gets tons of free material to rant about on his show, how he as a wealthy white upper class male high achiever is discriminated against here in Obama land.
I don’t see how owning a piece of the Rams could ever be considered a good thing.
This is actually quite clever and likely could be the way it was planned all along. For all intents and purposes, Limbaugh was a minority, non-voting partner. He probably could have kept his involvement fairly quiet but he chose not to. Why was that?
He’s a fucking blabbermouth and couldn’t keep his own affair quiet if he was having one?
Side note: There’s nothing liberal about Juan Williams.
Juan is what passes for a liberal on Fox News.
