Linda Ronstadt recorded the song... and her version was the best (Poll)

I Never Will Marry

The band I-10 (with Adam Duritz) put much more feeling into Carmelita than any version I’ve heard.
Do listen to this:

Though I’ve always appreciated how Jackson Browne would always pitch Zevon’s songs to his audiences. Even stuff like Mohammed’s Radio. He now plays Carmelita as a tribute to Warren.

I went with “When Will I Be Loved”, though mostly for the guitar rather than the vocals.

Exactly. FWIW, my maternal grandfather’s family is Mexican, have lived in Tucson since forever, and the old-timers (including my 88 year old favorite uncle) love Linda R.

Although I wouldn’t say “never,” I often find myself feeling this way about Linda’s work, the most striking example being her Nelson Riddle records.

Although the cover by Susanna Hoffs and Matthew Sweet is pretty damn good.

She did a very nice version of the Beatles’ “Good Night”, even though it’s not the greatest Beatles song. I will always be a fan of Ringo, but I would much rather hear a lullaby sung in Linda’s voice.
