The difference is that as a society we have decided that we don’t _want to have_ “black spaces” and “white spaces”. Whereas we explicitly _do_ have distinct categories for men and women in sports, and those categories are based on things that have very little to do with gender identity or expression. Which is why the majority of trans advocates support trans inclusion in sports on a case by case basis based on the type of transition undergone and the particulars of the sport in question, rather than a blanket ‘compete based on your gender identity’ stance. ---
