I read that scientists say that lions have the strongest forelegs of the big cats, and they have a knack to being more ferocious. Even though tigers are heavier and longer, it’s ferocity that determines a winner. Lions have all the equipment of a fighter with huge forelegs, the mane, and the stocky body. Because of the mane the male lion is a poor predator. He however has a fierce desire to defend his territory. They have been known to kill or drive off rhinos. The tiger is nervous around a male lion and cat trainers have said that this has caused problems in zoos and circuses. The same trainers have mostly said that the male lion appears to have no fear of the tiger even in a large group of tigers. The big cat trainer Clyde Beatty lost 12 tigers to lions and didn’t lose a single lion. He once had a tiger and lion fighting in a live performance and tried to stop it he couldn’t and the lion went on to maul the tiger to death in front of all these people. But to get back to the lions and tigers, apparently it is a very hard thing to put lions and tigers together. I read that scientists say that lions have the strongest forelegs of the big cats, and they have a knack to being more ferocious. Even though tigers are heavier and longer, it’s ferocity that determines a winner. Lions have all the equipment of a fighter with huge forelegs, the mane, and the stocky body. Because of the mane the male lion is a poor predator. He however has a fierce desire to defend his territory. They have been known to kill or drive off rhinos. The tiger is nervous around a male lion and cat trainers have said that this has caused problems in zoos and circuses. The same trainers have mostly said that the male lion appears to have no fear of the tiger even in a large group of tigers. The big cat trainer Clyde Beatty lost 12 tigers to lions and didn’t lose a single lion. I think you should repost your list of cites of 800 pound lions, with the frivolous ones removed. Some of them just link to pictures. A picture of the MGM lion is not a cite for sore eyes, or 800 pound lions. ---

See, finally someone who gets it. This whole “tigers are better than lions” propaganda is such a pack of lies! My kids, even my kids, think a tiger could destroy a lion in a swipe or two of its paws. They fail to look at the actual data that’s out there and see that a lion is far superior to tigers. The public in general is being fooled by these Tigerists and I’m just so sick of it all. What has this world come to? ---

Some cites of actual fights between Lions and the apparently superior Tiger would be useful. It’s one thing to speak about a hypothetical cage fight, but if \*\*My Lord \*\*wants to get his point across he’s going to have to provide some proof. I don’t think the few examples he’s provided are sufficient. I’d like to see some in depth research into this subject. ---

The cites here so far are really scant and paltry (but not for lack of effort on part of the OP). OTOH, I think even a simple comparison of a lion’s binocular ratio to that of a tiger’s gives it an advantage in optical sensory and higher awareness of its surroundings than a tiger. I’ll confess, I’m a hard-core Lioninst (we call ourselves “Prides” or Priders"). But the tiger wouldn’t even be able to sneak up on a lion in the wild. And this is nothing to say of it’s unique mane that protects the lion’s main arteries from the vicious tiger bite. This is leaving out the lioness, but if the male survives, it’s not an issue. The tiger’s all aggression, no finesse. A Tyson to Mohammad Ali, if you will.
