# Lions, Tigers, and Dreadlocks! Oh My!

No, I’m not making fun of dreadlocks. I’m intending on getting them, actually. And I want some first hand accounts on how people how have done it, and what works for them. I don’t mean sound discriminant here, but I’d prefer people that are white and have straight hair, since I have straight hair and different races have different hair types.
So if anyone here has/has had dreads or is friends or even related to someone that has/has had them, please give me some pointers.
P.S. Some help on convincing my mom to let me would be appreciated. Mean ol’ mom. :mad: She’s ok though. I don’t want to have to them behind her back.

I ran into an old high school friend several years ago, and he was sporting dreads. I asked him how you “get” 'em. He said all he did was:
Wash his hair
Dry it by driving along with your head out the window.
Never comb it.
I never understood the attraction about looking like you have turds tangled in your hair, but to each his/her own.
(Maybe I just envy him because, at least, he _has_ hair.
