My choice for worst movie is “any film(s) with shaky cam”.

Seriously, when shaky cam is all you have for action and fighting scenes it gets disorientating. It is a lazy film making technique that studio execs like because its cheap, quick to do and they think it can be passed off as “edgy” or “gritty realism”. The industry currently abuses shaky cam more than construction workers abuse portable toilets (bless 'em).

Prince of Persia the movie I am looking at you. That was just a horrible pile of steamy faeces.

[_Nekromantik 2_](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nekromantik_2).

German necrophilia-themed splatter film. Very gory. With sex. And unsimulated necropsy footage. In color.

Boring as hell.

Well, “boring” isn’t doing it justice. It has a very sedate pace, not an especially engaging story, and a low-volume, un-dubbed (and rather sparse—not a lot of talking) German dialogue track, and the sawing, repetitive, Philip Glass-esque violin score.

It was so boring, it was actually _relaxing_.

The first time I (tried) to watch it, it was one of those drippy autumn evenings, I had my feet by the heater, I popped the Netflix DVD in…and I was out like a light in fifteen minutes. And it was one of the most pleasant naps I’ve ever had.

I think it took me maybe two or three tries to get through it. If I made it, it was through a lot of fast forwarding.

So, yeah, German reunification-era splatter porn. The over-the-counter cure for insomnia.

**Shattered Image**
Starring the actress from Luc Besson’s Nikita. Thought it was going to be a stylized thriller but the actual style of the film was all over the place and it just wasn’t very good.

**Pinocchio 964**
I was thinking this was going to be a foreign version of Spielberg’s AI. It was just a dumb film. If it was reduced to a 5 minute experimental video then maybe it would be okay but it really was just a waist of time.

**Color of Night**
Already mentioned. It was pretty weird when I first saw it.

**The Cocaine Fiends**
Pretty disappointing film about “cocaine fiends.” I don’t think I even saw any lines done.

I actually just watched [Movie 43](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SKXoAzzZ_Pc) earlier tonight. “Sure,” I thought, “It’s going to be off the hook, but how bad can it be? Look at all that star power, I thought.”

So awful…

> Barbarella is a seriously cool movie. If science fiction had stayed in that groove instead of swallowing Star Trek whole, it would be a much healthier genre today.

Yes, sci-fi would be healthier, glowing with vitality, and slightly sweaty.
