# List of the New Orleans dead?

Hopefully an easy question: Is there yet a compiled list of names of those who died in New Orleans, and is it available to the general public?

I have a friend I hope not to find on that list.

I think it’s going to be a long time before such a list is compiled. They’ve hardly started officially counting them, let alone identifying them.

tdn, there is no casualty listing as of yet.

However, CNN is maintaining a “Safe List.” You can check it [here](http://www.cnn.com/SPECIALS/2005/hurricanes/list/) . It is not complete, but people are adding their own and others’ names daily as they are able.
