Having discovered interesting things answering “The last 10 things you bought” and similar threads I thought I would try this one. For me: _10-10_ - **Paolo Nutini,** the very young, obviously Scottish soon to be legend. _Psychotic Girl_ - **The Black Keys** remembering an ex. _I Can See the Pines are Dancing_ - **AA Bondy** no reason, just love his stuff. _Love Me Like a River Does_ - **Melody Gardot** best female jazz singer since Ella, will prove to be God. _Your Heart is as Black as Night_ - **Melody Gardot** see above and i could add a few more below… ---

I’ll play, but I am going to look like a psychopath. Before I type my list, I want to make it clear that I generally do not listen to a lot of music these days and I have been in a weird music mood, listening to songs I had heard in my childhood or liked in my youth to see if they still sound the same as I remember them. With that said, here are the most recent: Read 'Em and Weep- Barry Manilow Patches- Dickie Lee 'Round and 'Round- Ratt Sweet Little Loving- White Lion One Night in Bangkok- Murray Head I’d just like to re-iterate that none of these songs represent my current usual musical tastes and that I am still under 40 years old. 🙂 ---

I actually like (and am embarrassed to admit this) Barry Manilow’s songs better now than I did when my mom was playing them, but the Ratt and White Lion etc. that I _adored_ as a tween sound very uninspired and derivative now. (I almost said “shallow and pedantic” but wasn’t sure if that joke would land. :)) _Patches_ used to make me cry when I was a little girl- it was so sad; but now it is so over the top that it causes giggles, and I decided that I too love _One Night in Bangkok_, even if I get made fun of for it. 😉 ---

Last five tracks heard on my iPod during the morning commute: John Coltrane: Body and Soul Tom Waits: Sins of My Father Rolling Stones: Always Suffering XTC: Rocket from a Bottle Kinks: Animal Farm These being on shuffle play, they weren’t really “conscious choices.” The last five tracks I listened to by choice would be the last five on Oregon’s self-titled album on ECM. ---

When I was a child I just loved her as a pop star. I had no clue how genius she was until I listened to her as an adult. So, yeah, it is indeed interesting to compare childhood musical tastes with adult ones. ---
