Since I’m a mod, and I got that as a “report this post” before I moved the thread to Great Debates, I"m afraid that I didn’t think **Nemo** meant it in a personal way but rather as a way of comparing the style of argument. I could be wrong, but just my opinion. While maybe not in the best of taste, he didn’t call you a holocaust denier. ---

[/QUOTE] Semi-hijack: Some deniers claim that, while some Jews did die in work camps, it was a natural result of wartime conditions, improper sanitation, and lack of adequate medical treatment, and anyway, it was only a few thousand, not millions and millions. The goal of this particular type of denialist is minimization, not negation, that the Holocaust was an “unfortunate” event that’s been blown vastly out of proportion, and the Germans didn’t mean for it to happen anyway. ---

I appreciate the support, and yes, I do recognize that I might have been a bit touchy regarding **Little Nemo** ’s use of the term. Still: holocaust deniers are known for being weasels and manipulative in debate, and use fallacies of debate in service of great evil. To be told that my argument is equivalent to that in form - how is that not insulting? If I were to say to you, dear reader, that your argument against me was like something Jack Thompson/Pat Robertson/Dick Cheney would say, wouldn’t that rile your blood even if there was a valid analogy underneath? ---

It is odd, however, how WalMart threads generate such venom on this board. You’d think they were Halliburton or something. 🙂 ---
