Oh, and not a movie, but every D&D player knows of the Tarrasque, right? The original French legend is of… wait for it… a monster that’s befriended by a young girl.

Don’t forget, too, that all children live in a land of giants. When you’re the size of a child, adults tower over you. So to a large extent, such stories are about children learning that grown-ups are people, too.
