George Washington Carver was born Daniel Thomspson. He changed his name after carving a full length portrait of our first president in a peanut shell. The shell hangs in the Smithsonian Portrait Museum. Immediately after killing an aminal, Teddy Roosevelt would eat its heart. He believed this insured his good health.
