I’m thinking it’s your choice of movies… 
When I used to play on the soccer team in school I always thought one of the more interesting things while sitting on the side of the field when I wasn’t playing was to note the delay between seeing someone kick the ball on the other side of the field and hearing it. It was rather surreal. And that’s just the width of a soccer field.
Along the lines of “damn, this fighting is tiring,” check out the sword fight between Malkovich and Reeves in Dangerous Liaisons. Those guys are exhausted- but a gentleman allows his enemy a chance to catch his breath periodically!
