I don’t know which came first the number 0 or the letter O…but whoever decided that the latter should just mimic the former needs to be shot.

Seriously, why not use a “-” for zero?

Boy, you people are really against mathematicians, aren’t you? First you want to take away x, and now this. If we used “-” in place of 0, how would we ever get any subtraction done without becoming utterly confused? Prove this is a good idea.

I feel rage every time I see a character in World of Warcraft whose name is not, in fact, a name, but rather a designation. I’m having a hard time picturing a set of proud parents sending out the birth announcements:

Lambert and Crystonia Strongingthearm are proud to announce the birth of their son, **Sneakyrogue**.

(A few years down the road: “I just don’t understand why you cops always come around here looking for our son every time something comes up missing around here!”)

Nobody would name their kid “Thisguyhealz” (an actual “name” I saw on a priest) or “Quikdeath”. And no gnome would name their child “Short_anything_”! Short? Not to other gnomes you’re not!

Tell that to Shortiel McGee.

A wee lad, even by gnome standards, standing not more than 1’2".

In old movies, people say, “Make an honest woman out of her,” when they mean, “Marry her.” It makes no sense.

If she ain’t an honest woman, friend, marrying her won’t change it.

NO. I am completely lacking in the fifth letter.

But I never liked the fifth letter anyway.

> Why is there Q? Lazy bastard letter can’t go anywhere without U to help it out. Q could easily be replaced with CW or KW. I think we keep Q around just so as not to piss off the Next Generation Trekkies.

Similarly, the C serves no purpose in English except when paired with other letters, as in “church.” On its own, it can always be replaced by a K or an S.

Logically, the C should be used only to signify the “ch” sound. But, of course, English develops by fashion, not logic.

One cool thing about the alphabet, though, is that it’s in alphabetical order. That makes it easy to remember.

Ryan Seacrest.

I cannot explain my visceral hatred of Ryan Seacrest. But it burns.
I also hate when cake is flipped the wrong way on a plate. It needs to be icing-to-the-top-and-right, never ever **ever** icing-to-the-top-and-left. I can’t eat the cake till I’ve flipped it back to its correct position so that I can eat from the bottom left corner and finish with the frostingy bits. It’s a bit ridiculous, but I am sure that even if I am having cake with the Queen, if Her Majesty flips the cake incorrectly onto my plate, I will have to flip it with a fork before eating it.

My family has tried for years to convince me that I can still eat a cake the “wrong” way, but I refuse to accept that.

I don’t like leaving my closet door open when I’m going to bed.

This has nothing to do with what lived in there when I was a child, or any Stephen King story I read. It just makes sense that any faceless creatures with claws that inhabit the closet will respect your boundaries _if_ the closet door is shut. Leave it open, even a crack, and it’s an invitation to unspeakable mayhem.
What are you looking at?

There’s a bank in Kansas City called “UMB Bank”. Naturally, the “B” in UMB stands for “Bank” (from their former name “United Missouri Bank”). And they have ATM Machines at every location where you can enter your PIN Number.

When I was webmaster for a manufacturing company, I lost a battle with the engineering department over their insistence on publishing a page called “MSDS Sheets” (i.e. Material Safety Data Sheet Sheets). This was also in Kansas City. Maybe it’s something in the H2O oxygen.

She should go to the Women’s Room, to The Ladies’, The Powder Room or possibly even to “wash her hands”, or to “see a man about a dog”. People in double digits of age should not go to the “little girls’ room” or the “little boys’ room”.

There is something about Michael Douglas that infuriates me. He has such a smug face.

Also, am I the only one who thinks Owen Wilson’s nose looks like a penis? I was flipping channels one night and came across a movie that I assumed was a comedy, and watched it for a while to see if they would explain why he had a penis for a nose. Slowly I realized that it was not a comedy and he wasn’t wearing a comedy penis nose.

Also, merely naming your character Dark or Darque (whatever) does NOT make your character Dark And Mysterious And Sexy. It means that you, the player, are sadly and very obviously lacking in imagination. If you absolutely must play an angsty character, then ACT all angsty, rather than having a name like Darksoul and then being as bubbly as a cheerleader on happy pills.

Sororities annoy me.

Not just their sorority-ness. I mean, that can be annoying, for sure.

But the whole “sister” thing. I have a friend who is an only child and joined a sorority and now loves to talk about how wonderful and different sisterhood is. How she finally knows what it’s like to have sisters.

I have real sisters. And while I wouldn’t want to deny her such a … _wonderful_… experience, her sorority buddies are not sisters. They’re friends. Sort of. They’re like people who have contractually agreed to be friends, whether they like each other or not. … although, now that I think about it, that’s kind of what real sisters are too. Only with real sisters there’s not that “I love you so much, sister! anything for a sister, sister! Hello, my name is Christina and I would lay down my life for you, sister I’m meeting for the first time, because that’s what sisters do for their sisters!” thing. The whole fake devotion/family thing just grates.

The same goes for close friends (even close friends of mine) who like to say “I feel like you’re my sister!” to indicate that they’re just that close. Sister is not the same thing as close friend.

And yes, I know this is insane (which is why I’m putting it here) and I should let people have their fun and so on, but it irks me.
