I’m surprised there wasn’t more outcry along the lines of “Where are the puppets?” and “Where’s ‘I Have Confidence’?” - and props to whoever made the decision to base it on the stage version without adding parts of the movie to it.
It wouldn’t be the first time a show’s revival was changed to fit the movie; the Grease revival that had its stars cast from an NBC reality show added the songs “Grease (is the Word)” and “You’re the One That I Want.”
Apparently, NBC wants to make this an annual thing, and Entertainment Weekly Radio has had discussions as to what show they should do next year - and the two most popular choices seem to be My Fair Lady and the recent stage version of Mary Poppins. Hmmm…My Fair Lady, Mary Poppins, The Sound of Music - notice a trend?
