So I reckon we may as well get started on the rest. There’s been talk up here for ages of renaming Glasgow’s Prestwick Airport as something like “Robert Burns Airport”. I’d far rather have it named after William McGonagall, Scotland’s most famous dreadful poet (run a search, it’s worth it!).

Any more for any more?

Of course Liverpool Airport’s new slogan is “above us only sky”, which is very nice, but it’s to be hoped no major accidents are prefaced by a rendition of “Imagine”.
Or has anythign been named in a way you really resent? My old school’s new science block was named after an avaricious and status-driven rector, when two well-liked and talented teachers had recently died in a climbing accident and in my opinion deserved the tribute far more.

I couldn’t say I really got terribly upset when they renamed Ile-Sainte-Hélène metro after Jean Drapeau. I mean, he did commission the metro, as well as Expo 67 and Place des Arts. Even if he was a homophobic asshole. (Gee, it could have been worse - he could have NOT been a homophobic asshole, and the village could have still been on Crescent Street! )

our airport was originally called the C.D. Lemon Airport. His dad must have thought it was a cute name, but not for an airport. There is no more “seedy lemon”.

How about Oklahoma City? Will Rogers International Airport. And the general aviation (small plane) strip in town is named for the guy flying the plane that ol’ Will went down in, Wiley Post.
