It’s probably very bad manners for a “neutral” like me to chip in here, but I’m sure you can imagine how I cheered. Porto, Lazio or Boavista to come, so nothing too scary. Any preferences? ---

Celtic deserved it, but the scoreline was harsh on Liverpool. They could easily have won it before the last 15 minutes (when they seemed to give up). I thought Steven Gerrard played excellently, but Henrik Larsson and John Hartson were also superb. ---

It was a good match to watch, for the neutral footie fan. But as a life-long Liverpool fan it was hard to swallow, especailly in the context of how much they have thrown away already this year. Some great goals by Celtic and a well deserved victory. I would like to see them go on to win it now. That’s all I have to say about that. All I want to stop is the complete ragging I’m getting at work from the Celtic fans. Dammit! ---

Very good draw for Celtic, although the Man Utd/Real Madrid tie should be a cracker for the neutral too. ---

Boavista’s probably the easiest draw on paper, although I think we’ve played best in this competition in the games where we haven’t been the favourites. BTW, I disagree that Liverpool “could easily have won it”. They missed a few good chances, but so did we. Overall I think we simply outplayed them. ---

fair play to Calley Thistle, they wanted it more. I just wish we had the squad to be able to challenge for 4 competitions
