Lo Carbers??

I’ve been on the Atkins diet since last September. So far I’ve lost 65lbs. My chronic heart burn stopped within a few days of being on the diet, and I haven’t had heartburn since.

One thing I really like is that I can go out to eat and order a steak or a burger (what I would order anyway) and not even feel like I’m dieting. The only difference is I order vegatables or salad instead of fries and I eat the burger with a knife and fork, which is now habit.

While I generally disagree with low-carb diets, I know they work wonderfully for some people, particularly as a great springboard or a push to get off a weight-loss plateau. The woman in the office down the hall from me has lost nearly 30 pounds on a low-carb diet. Congratulations, Eilsel!!! Keep up the good work.

I’ve been doing Atkins since April and also have never had any constipation at all. I feel great, and never get that mid-afternoon slump like I used to. I’ve lost lots of inches, but never measure. I can sit in movie theater seats and not have my hips brush the sides any more. I’ve got pants that literally fall off.
I’ve lost about 30 pounds. I didn’t weigh myself when I started, but since I started weighing myself, I’ve lost more than 25 pounds.

Where do you all find the low-carb bread? I would KILL for a slice of bread.

BiblioCat, I buy Natural Ovens in my regular grocery store. It’s made in Wisconsin, and I’m outside of Chicago. I’m not sure if it’s available outside of the midwest.

I never heard of Natural Ovens. (I know you’re not talking to me lol)…we do have a natrual bread line here…darn I forget the name but they make Ezeikiel bread and allthose kinds of grainy type breads. I just automatically stayed away from them becaue it was “bread” … but now I’ll have to actually read the label…

GEE!!! WHAT A NOVEL IDEA!

:stuck_out_tongue: When I started on Atkins and started reading labels for carb content, I was constantly saying, “Holy cow, there’s no carbs in this! I can eat it!”
Or, “Holy shit! Look how many freaking carbs are in this!”

It was quite the eye-opener.

Oh, I know. See I read labels on everything. Except bread. lol

I end up just ordering stuff from synergydiet.com or netrition.com and some other sites I have that only charge flat shipping fees which is great if you order a lot like I do. Then I just dump it all in the freezer.

But since I’ve bought Dana Carpender’s book, I’ve been trying to make more of my own stuff.

That was my reaction when I first looked at imitation crab meat! I mean, I figured it was just some bland kind of fish with flavoring added, right? WRONG! All kinds of potato starch and crap, I guess for texture (also it’s cheap)!

A friend gave me this book for my birthday. While my diet is not truly “low carb”, because I don’t limit whole grains, everything in this book fits into our new way of eating. I particularly love the deviled chicken and the confetti frittata (which we had for dinner last night-if you like ketchup on your eggs, you can put some sugar-free ketchup on top. I also melt shredded cheddar cheese on top, though the recipe doesn’t call for it).

I put cheeeeeeeese on everything. I love it.

I made the sunflower seed crackers and my gf made the salmonw/the spinach. OMG they were sooo good.
