I have been misunderstood again, but no loss there really. FTR, I haven’t said “suck it up mentally ill people” ever. I’ve worked with the mentally ill. My post about not disappearing into a bottle, pill or closet stands. I do NOT buy that alcoholics somehow have “more” pain than others–but I do buy that they might be hardwired to become addicted more easily-and once addicted, cannot help themselves (except for the many that do–Hmmmm.) I also don’t buy that mentally ill people get a pass-- not those that can function in everyday life, that is. People are willing to make allowances for those who suffer emotional disorders etc, but it’s not a free pass–that is what my post meant. One of the most polite people I’ve ever had to deal with was a paranoid schizophrenic. He was a pt of mine, in for an MI (heart attack). Unfailingly polite and very open about his illness. Not every person can be like that, but why should I cater to those who use their illness as an excuse for bad behavior or just laziness? (note to the reading impaired: this does NOT refer to \*\*DocC’s \*\*condition, it’s a general remark). You aren’t allowed to manipulate people and be rude etc just because you’re mentally ill. Not unless you’re in an inpt facility. I can be patient with someone with autism, but there are boundaries. Are you all who are so up in arms about this saying that these type people can do or say anything? I disagree. That’s one of the purposes of therapy–to learn more appropriate coping skills. NO disease gives you a free pass, AFAIC–not even lethal brain cancer. You still need to say thank you and please etc–until you can’t anymore. I said I was done here, but I guess not. I believe\*\* LM\*\* edits at her job; she does not read all our posts for editing purposes. If she does, she needs to get a life. ---

If you start talking about lobstermobster, you have to evaluate and read the research papers on how they came up with these lobstermobsters, okay? That’s what I’ve done. Then you go and you say where’s-- where’s the lostermobster test? Where’s the blood test that says how much lobstermobster you’re supposed to get? And to talk about lobstermobtser in a way of saying, “Well, isn’t it okay,” and being reasonable about it when you don’t know and I do, I think that you should be a little bit more responsible in knowing what lobstermobster is. You just communicate about lobstermobster. And the important thing is, like you and I talk about it, whether it’s – okay, if I wanna know something, I go and find out. Because I don’t talk about lobstermobsters that I don’t understand. I’ll say, you know what? I’m not so sure about that. I’ll go find more information about lobstermobster so I can-- I can come to an opinion based on-- on the lobstermobster that I have.
