Seriously though, I’m with **lobstermobster**. Of course there are legitimate psychological conditions, and some people have them. But it seems like people don’t have quirks and moods anymore, they have personality disorders. Not every unpleasant feeling has to be medicated away, folks. ---

Ack. I should have said that after my comment to you (where I named you) that these were general remarks–not addressed specifically to you. It won’t take months to empty the sink, if you’d stop using the ceramic dishes once you’ve cleaned them! Kudos to you for being in therapy and for taking your meds etc. My daughter is off meds, has stopped pulling and her hair is growing back. I am proud of her for achieving so much. I would not think less of her if she were still on the meds etc. Can we stop being defensive about psychological disorders and some of us can just go back to being eccentric? Please? ---

Here’s what I do: Dress nicely–and take a shower/brush my teeth etc. Maybe some mascara. I’ve never been one for lingerie–the sexiest thing for me is a man’s dress shirt. (it helps if I know the man, of course!) Flowers are nice, but a good bit of erotica works better for me. Dim lights–I’m of an age where I look better in the dark. The rest I leave up to you. ---

A maid could wash the dishes, but could they wash them to my standards? Most likely, I’d examine the ‘clean’ dishes and put them back in the sink. ---

[/QUOTE] DocCathode, go right now to the sink, and throw them away. (I am a treehugger, so I hate the paper and plastic thing you are doing, FTR) Just throw the stinking thorns in your side away. I spent 13 years as the object of an OCD checker. 52 calls in one day. Stayed awake at night to ensure that I was breathing. Checked on me at the bathroom door. Etc ad nauseum. Know what cured him? A divorce. Now Mr Obsessive is the happy, well-adjusted, loving husband to wife number 2, who has never had an inkling of his OCD issues. We are all happy and healthy now. Divorce the dishes- throw them out. Why sit there agonizing and obsessing over them? ---

I’ve been telling people that I have OCD, but it’s not really true. I’m a bit of a hoarder, but I’m really just a lazy slob. Perhaps I have Mild Compulsive Disorder, or Anti-Anal Retentive Disorder. I have a friend who I think has been actually diagnosed with OCD. He won’t let anyone in his apartment anymore. His apartment is not filthy, but it is stacked to the rafters with music paraphernalia. And he would never let me wash his dishes. Now I think I understand. He tells me that he no longer takes a shit at his apartment because his toilet is broken. He is regular enough to do it at work. I wish I was so regular. ---

**Doc** Throw out all the dishes, and kitchen utensils you now have in your sink, saving only one of each item. Then, spend the day scrubbing those suckers clean, and put them away. Now, from that moment hence, you eat, you wash. No stack of dishes. Dishes not washed, you either eat out, or wash before you eat. Tris ---
