[/QUOTE] Howard Hughes had a lot of money and he paid people to take care of his phobias, but with OCD, it only gets worse. So he really went downhill fast. With OCD, the more you give in and wash your hands, wash the dishes, clean the floor, count the number of wall tiles, etc. the more you feel you need to do the same action again, just to be sure, because, you never know . . . Maybe there is an overdiagnosis of certain illnesses. I know that OCD is a sort of fashionable sort of thing to say to people that you have. It’s “amusing” to be able to be quirky because you can only eat pasta on odd numbered Thursdays. But I venture that people who do this are not really suffering from any disease. If they were, they’d know it’s a much more serious and painful experience. And they’d understand why when someone comes along talking about “power crystals” and accusations of laziness, it might be offensive. ---

But it sounds like your OCD compulsion is not to clean the dishes so they would be sufficient for brain surgery, but to keep a sinkful of dirty ones. Maybe you could start from there and work on it that way. (It helps if I can visualize it as a sink of basically clean dishes. Whatever problems I have with getting these images from a message board, please do not disillusion me to tell me that you add gucky stuff to make it authentically a sink full of dishes rotting away.)
