I had to get a new credit card issued after my old CC number got stolen. The dumbfucks screwed up something very basic when they issued it, though, and that leaves me unable to get through the automated phone system to activate it. The most annoying thing is that I can’t actually talk to a person to get this fixed because the issuer’s phone lines are jammed. I guess they just don’t want my business anymore. ---

Stupid fucking people. 10 y/o is at his mom’s house, supposed to come back this afternoon. Hi mom texted this morning to see if we could wait until tomorrow. Because they’re smoking a brisket and have GODDAMN FUCKING PEOPLE COMING OVER THIS FUCKING AFTERNOON. Oh, but what’s the big deal, because they “going to eat outside”. Jezusfuckingfuck. Who knows what other silly shit they’ve been up to over there. She’s putting MY household in danger as well. Fucking assholes. ---

Downstairs neighbors had visitors again. I cannot believe it. I’m really considering contacting the tribal police on them. I’m not afraid of backfire, but just having nothing whatsoever done while the typhoid Marys keep this up. Their guest don’t even stay long for the most part either, and I’m growing suspicious they’re dealing drugs. What do I even do. ---

I’m pissed she’s putting him at risk. But then he comes over here, so he’s also putting me, my wife, and other two sons at risk because of the stupid shit she’s pulling. Oh, and he plays with his friends all the time too. Also when I got there today he was riding his bike without a helmet. But I digress. I’m so furious I’m shaking. This has to stop, or I’ll have to make the incredibly hard decision for him to just stay there until this is all over. I can’t let her stupid ass put my people at this house at risk. ---

My roommate’s 15-year-old cat Durwood is at the vet with acute renal failure. He’s getting a 48-hour kidney flush and then we’ll know more. I was there when he got Durwood from the animal shelter, back when he was a little tabby fluffball. Now he’s a big tabby fluffball–or was until he started losing a lot of weight. Right now he’s a lot of fur hanging on a skeleton. ☹ ---

Lost my job. My wife got the virus. A day into her isolation, I went over on my ankle and caused an avulsion fracture (like a sprain, sort of, but the ligament wrenches off a fragment of bone) because I’ve bust it a couple of times and it’s now riddled with arthritis. We were midway through a massive remodelling of our garden, with literally tonnes of soil and gravel to move. She came to her door to see me once I’d crawled back into the house, and sat down because she was too weak to stand. Her eyes rolled back in her head, she passed out, hit her head, threw up on the carpet and pissed herself. We have a 7 year old and a 9 year old, who were right there. While I was still hobbling around like James Caan in Misery, she turned 40, on a pull-out bed in the study. We’d originally planned a trip away in our van, and a week away on a rented boat. She made it as far as the garden, planted a row of peas then slumped against the shed, exhausted. After a small bite to eat, she went back to bed for three hours to recover. Next day I was kneeling over her asthmatically gasping, unresponsive body, maintaining an airway and counting her breaths aloud while I waited for the paramedics. She’s out of those woods, but has a secondary infection now threatening pneumonia, and is in constant pain. Our fridge stopped working. We dismantled it yesterday to work out the problem - the problem being that its internals are rusted to fuck thanks to stupid fucking design, and we need a new fridge. She wasn’t desperately happy about having to spend hours scrabbling about inside a ruined fridge, and today couldn’t really even walk, she was so fatigued by her efforts. April can, in a very real sense, go fuck itself. ---

Here’s a mild case of the universe screwing with you. So, while the wife is stuck in Korea and I’m back here in China, she decided to cobble together a care package for me and ship it over by EMS (Express Mail Service). When she posted the box on April 9, the postal clerk informed her that since there’s been a drastic reduction in number of aircraft going to/from China, instead of just a few days, it might take a month for the package to arrive. The package arrived yesterday! The kicker is that the airline has removed the seats from a lot of aircraft and has been running cargo flights instead of passenger flights on the routes. The package came here on the same flight number my wife would have taken had entry for foreigners not been barred. ---
