Yes, I know. But _something_ convinced the courts in Scotland, and you know what? Even if he was the last surviving terrorist, he bears a responsibility, and (IMO) we’ve relaxed _our_ (the US’s) vigilance way too far. They’re talking explosive devices implanted in pets, for crying it loud. As an animal welfare advocate, this pisses me off the same way ANY loss of life does. Please let’s not get into an argument, okay? Let’s let this be my last comment before I go into a rage which will surely get me in hot water with the mods (according to a post-it on my monitor). I hope the new government of Libya will open the files and tell the whole story of this horrible incident of mass murder. Was Megrahi guilty? Nobody knows for sure-the archives (unless the records were destroyed) would be the only way to know, for sure. ---

I am, however, rather skeptical about how likely such an incident would be, and how much of a threat this sort of thing actually poses. Basically, i disagree with your assertion that America has relaxed its vigilance too much. I’ve seen no evidence that it has. ---

Well, compare Frankfurt, Germany’s airport to our own, and you’ll see a huge difference. I don’t want to get into the pat-down/body scanner thing, but having landed at Frankfurt many times, I’ve seen pairs of soldiers patrolling the hallways with their Uzis very regularly since Sept. 9, 2011.
